Who is Emily Bill?

Emily is a senior majoring in nutritional sciences at Penn State. She currently serves as a student intern at The Pantry.

Former Lion’s Pantry or Food Pantry Involvement:

  • Volunteer at The Lion’s Pantry since September 2020
  • Worked with her food pantry at home throughout high school

Other Involvement and Extracurriculars:

I’m also currently in the Student Nutrition Association and a member in the Gamma Phi Beta sorority! In the summer, I work at a coffee shop in Long Beach Island, NJ as a barista!

Why did you decide to join The Lion’s Pantry team by applying to be a student intern?

I decided to join The Lion’s Pantry team to share my nutritional knowledge and experiences that I have learned throughout undergrad to help others make healthy food and lifestyle choices!

What special projects do you hope to focus on this semester as an intern?

As an intern, one special project I plan to focus on this semester as an intern is creating recipe cards to be distributed at pantry with the items found within The Pantry. My goal is to give customers ideas on how to create healthy meals with the items we have right in front of them!

What are you looking forward to bringing or implementing to The Lion’s Pantry in the upcoming academic year?

I look forward to bringing nutritional knowledge along with a positive attitude to The Pantry 🙂

What is your favorite part about working with The Lion’s Pantry?

My favorite part about working with The Pantry is how much of a direct impact all of the hard work that goes into running The Pantry has on the Penn State community. It’s truly moving how much the pantry means to our fellow Penn State students and community members, and I love getting to experience that bond directly with The Pantry.

If you could talk to an incoming student interested in joining The Lion’s Pantry, what would you like them to know about this organization?

If I could talk to an incoming student, I would say that being involved within the pantry could be one of the best experiences they can get at Penn State. The Lion’s Pantry community is kind, genuine, hardworking, and can ALWAYS use extra hands!
